Flora

Primavera, Sandro Botticelli

The spring 2022 “Flora Collection” was made as a nod to the final spring festival of the year or May 1st, sometimes also referred to as Beltane in Gaelic pagan traditions.

A time of renewal, rebirth, fertility, and fire this festival has long since been a transition from the peak of Spring to the upcoming summer.

The painting Primavera by Botticelli highlights an allegory, depicting some of the Greek gods like Hermes and Venus, as well as the three Graces, and Cupid. To the left side of the massive painting we see two blonde women, and a blue man-like being. This is said to be the telling of the story of Chloris, a nymph captured by Zephyrs, the god of the West wind. She was married off to him, bearing him children, and then transformed into the goddess of flowers- Flora. This is the woman we see spreading flowers amongst the floor and expectant with child.

The “Flora Collection” was made to honor many goddesses from different cultures, all of whom represent ideas of fertility, flowers, spring, renewal, and motherhood.

The stones included in this collection are sparkling Strawberry Quartz, verdant Prehnites, and rich Citrines.
